The Chordettes were an American female popular singing quartet, usually singing a cappella, and specializing in traditional pop music. They are best known for their hit songs "Mr. Sandman" and "Lollipop." Active from 1946 to 1961, the group was originally composed of Janet Ertel, Carol Buschmann, Lynn Evans, and Jinny Osborn. Notably, their style was characterized by the use of the barbershop style of harmony, making them one of the few female vocal groups to adopt this technique. Their music has played a significant role in shaping the mid-20th century pop music landscape.
