The Hillside Singers

The Hillside Singers were a folk-pop ensemble, best known for their 1971 hit single "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", which was adapted from a Coca-Cola commercial and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Formed specifically to record this commercial jingle, the group was largely composed of advertising executives and session musicians, including songwriter Backer McCann Billy Davis. The Hillside Singers' style, characterized by harmonious vocals and a positive, uplifting message, made a significant contribution to the early 1970s pop culture landscape. Despite having a short-lived career, their influence extended beyond music into advertising, demonstrating the potential of commercial jingles to become standalone hits.
