The Lords of the New Church was a British-American gothic rock supergroup formed in 1981 by four established musicians: Stiv Bators (The Dead Boys), Brian James (The Damned), Dave Tregunna (Sham 69), and Nick Turner (The Barracudas). Their style intertwined punk, rock, and post-punk with a gothic aesthetic, a fusion that was novel at the time. The band's most noteworthy song "Open Your Eyes" demonstrated their socio-political commentary layered within their distinctive sound. However, despite their innovative blend and potential, internal conflicts led to their disbandment in 1989.
