The Mahavishnu Orchestra was an influential jazz-rock fusion band formed in 1971 by English guitarist John McLaughlin. Known for their complex, high-speed improvisations, the band combined elements of jazz, rock, and Eastern music, giving them a unique and pioneering sound in the fusion genre. Notable members included virtuoso violinist Jerry Goodman and drummer Billy Cobham. Among their most significant works is the album "Birds of Fire," which is considered a landmark in the fusion movement.
