The Sheppards

The Sheppards were an American doo-wop and rhythm and blues group active in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their distinctive sound, characterized by soulful harmonies and a brass-heavy rhythm section, was exemplified in their most notable hit, "Island of Love." The band, which included notable members Millard Edwards and O.C. Perkins, was one of the few doo-wop groups of the era to incorporate elements of gospel into their music. Despite their limited discography, The Sheppards remain influential in the development of the doo-wop and rhythm and blues genres.
