The Squires

The Squires were a Canadian rock band formed in 1963, most notable for featuring a young Neil Young on vocals and guitar. Their musical style was primarily instrumental surf rock, but Young's evolving songwriting heralded the folk rock and country rock genres he would later explore in his solo career. One of their most significant works is "The Sultan," a surf-influenced instrumental, highlighting Young's early talent. Despite their short-lived existence, The Squires played a pivotal role in the early career of one of rock music's most influential figures.
