The Toy Dolls are a British punk rock band formed in Sunderland, England in 1979. They are best known for their humorous lyrics and energetic, fast-paced music, which blend elements of punk with pop sensibilities. The band's signature sound is characterized by the high-pitched vocals of lead singer and guitarist Michael "Olga" Algar. Among their most influential works is their 1984 cover of "Nellie the Elephant," which reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and has since become a punk rock classic.
