The Vaselines

The Vaselines are a Scottish indie pop band formed in 1986 by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee. Noted for their distinctive lo-fi, simplistic songwriting style, they achieved limited commercial success during their initial run but gained notoriety after Nirvana's Kurt Cobain cited them as a major influence and covered several of their songs. Their most influential works include "Son of a Gun" and "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam". Despite releasing only one album, "Dum-Dum", before their initial split in 1990, The Vaselines' impact on the alternative rock scene has been significant.
