The Winstons

The Winstons were an American funk and soul music group from the late 1960s, best known for their 1969 recording, "Color Him Father". The band's drummer, G.C. Coleman, performed a drum break in the track "Amen, Brother" that has become one of the most sampled sequences in music, widely used in genres such as hip-hop, drum and bass, and jungle. Despite their brief existence and limited discography, The Winstons had substantial influence on later music due to this iconic drum loop, known as the "Amen break".
