Vanity 6 was an American all-female vocal trio formed in 1981, primarily known for their association with Prince. Composed of lead vocalist Vanity (Denise Matthews) and backing vocalists Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie, the group was known for their provocative image and fusion of funk, R&B, and new wave music. Their most notable work is the 1982 hit "Nasty Girl," which received substantial airplay in clubs and on R&B radio. Despite their short-lived tenure, Vanity 6 significantly contributed to the Minneapolis Sound of the 1980s and laid the groundwork for other female groups in the genre.
