Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) is a pioneering Japanese electronic music band formed in 1978. The trio, composed of Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Yukihiro Takahashi, are renowned for their innovative use of synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines. Their self-titled debut album, featuring the hit "Computer Game," was instrumental in establishing the genre of synth-pop. YMO's blending of traditional Japanese music with Western electropop influenced the development of modern electronic music worldwide.
