Messin' With The Kid/ Just Being Careful

This is a promo copy from the Louise Neal collection. These tracks had been released in 1963 on the tiny Breakthrough label (it's worth about 10 times as much as the U.S.A. release!), and then again in 1964 on the Shann label. As is often the case, it's the terrific dancer on the B side that makes the record so collectable among Northern Soul fans, although the A side ("Messin'") is a fine dancer as well. Note: This 45 is among those in the Neal collection that she may have actually played, and which spent some of their life outside a protective sleeve. In this case, the labels are Near Mint — nearly flawless! The vinyl, however, has some scuffing and tiny scratches, grading EX. The audio is hard to grade, because after a few "pops" near the beginning, it's nearly pristine the rest of the way. Overall, I'm grading the audio a strong EX, though it's very close to Near Mint. This single was sold through the Louise Neal Auctions page.
